Hi, my name is Sharon (aka ScrappinHottie) and I've lost 48 pounds in just over 3 months using Kimkins! I have also dropped my total body fat from 40.6% to 26.8% and my BMI has dropped from 32 to 24.
Just over 3 months ago, I had just gotten back from a business trip to Palm Springs, CA where I had overindulged, not to mention the fact that it
wasn't that long past the Christmas holiday season which for me and my family is an absolute carb-fest and then some! I was talking to a friend that I work with who has become a great friend through this journey and is one of my "Hottie sisters" and she was telling me about how great the plan was and how much weight she had lost and it must have been the right time for me because I checked out the website that day and joined later that evening. I printed and studied the food list and the rules and then went shopping and I started officially on February 3rd, 2007 and haven't looked back.
I can also honestly say that I haven't yet cheated either. I am at 101 cheat free days! I am really looking forward to the challenges of maintaining my weight loss on a permanent basis. This is not just a diet for me, it is a lifestyle change. I have tried many diets out there and never been successful at sticking with any of them as the results were far too slow. The effects of being in ketosis have been nothing short of amazing to me!
This is the best investment I have ever made in myself. I have improved my health for myself and also for my daughter. I want to make sure that I can enjoy watching her grow up, get married and have a family of her own. I want to be able to enjoy my grandchildren when they come and I will have the energy to do that now.
I really felt that I had reached an all-time high with my weight and that I had put my health at serious risk. I had no energy and my knees were starting to bother me if I walked around for too long. I quit smoking about 3 years ago and gained a lot of weight after that. I also have hypothyroidism and Crohns-Colitis. My grandfather died of a heart attack and I was really worried that I was risking diabetes if I didn't get my weight under control.
Prior to starting Kimkins, I was a certified junk-food junkie and serious carbaholic -- you name it and I ate it (chocolate, pizza, ice-cream, chips, etc., etc.) plus forget about portion control -- there was none! I had never bothered reading the labels on any of the foods that I ate and couldn't understand what all the fuss was about when other people talked about the nutritional info of the foods we were eating. Now, I'm so conscious of reading labels on everything because I don't want to unwittingly sabotage my diet that it takes me double the time to do my grocery shopping than what it used to (lol!). I have also learned to eat eggs and a lot more fish than ever. The ideas in the recipe box have been an absolute Godsend for me to stick to plan and yet continue to maintain some variety in my daily diet.
Once I got the hang of using Fitday and maintaining all my foods as custom foods, I felt even more empowered to be successful with this diet. It keeps me honest and I always know the values of everything I eat. I strongly recommend this for everyone joining Kimkins. I plan to continue to log my daily food intake into Fitday even when I get to maintenance.
I have a twice weekly tanning regimen and I am just now getting back to the gym to work with a personal trainer to tighten and tone everything up
and put the finishing touches, if you will, on the new me. I'm so happy as this has given me a new lease on life. My weight loss is noticed and I get a lot of compliments which is great. While I have just called GOAL at 145 lbs, I plan to lose a few more pounds to give myself some wiggle room for maintenance, but I am finally at a normal healthy weight for my height.
I'm very proud of what I have accomplished so far and I can't thank Kimmer enough for developing this program and this site for us. The support and advice I have received through my journey has been incredible and has made all the difference in my success. I have met so many wonderful people and made some amazing friendships. All the girls in the Hotties Forum have become like a second family to me and I adore them all plus all the wonderful ladies in the other forums that I post in on the Challenge Board. I truly believe that without the amazing support of everyone on this site, I wouldn't be where I am today so very humbly, I say thank you all very much!
What makes this even more gratifying is that I could possibly motivate someone else to keep going and reach their goals. How amazing is that?
