Quick Health Tip!

Posted by in Untagged

If you can't grab a tissue, sneeze into your elbow.

The reason?

You don't shake hands with your elbow or open the door with your elbow, so germs stay put!

Good tip for the colds & flu season!

Type 2 Diabetic Gets Off Meds With Kimkins!

Posted by in Untagged

I'll admit, health success posts are among my very favorite on the Kimkins website!

From Kimkins member "Sweetstell":

"What a great lady!

How come I had never heard of Kimmer till I stumbled onto the site of Living La Vida Low Carb and another big loser directed me here! In 8 days I have lost 7.5 pounds!

And I'm a Type II DIABETIC!!! It's been great getting off my Metformin and having normal readings!"

Wow! A few days on the super effective Kimkins diet and this sweet lady was able to get off of her diabetes medication!

Many Type II diabetic members report needing much less (or no) medication after a few short weeks on Kimkins. Even Type I types typically reduce their insulin dosage (with doctor's approval, of course).

If you or someone you know is diabetic, do them a favor and tell 'em to check out Kimkins! Be sure to check in with "Sweetstell" and give her a big HIGH 5!

Good job, Stell! Keep it up!

The Incredible Edible Egg!

A delicious favorite for Kimkins diet members, nothing beats an egg as quite simply a perfect food!

It's delicious, portable, versatile -- and perfectly portioned.

Coming in at a mere 70 calories and providing a respectable 7 grams of protein, it's a smart addition for serious weight loss.

Recognize These Gym Scoundrels?

Posted by in Untagged

Those of you who hit the gym regularly will appreciate the thinly disguised "gym rat" personalities cleverly described below.

Horrors if they're describing you!

Borrowed from Blueprint magazine, Fall 2006:

Four Gym Rats Scurrying Across a Mat Near You

The Seductress

Attire may include scandalously low-cut yoga pants paired with a bra (worn as a top). Applies preworkout makeup and has never heard of a ponytail holder.

The Competition

She is a better athlete than you -- now stand back and watch her prove it. She'll alight on the treadmill next to you, look at your speed gauge, and tip hers higher.

The Tiresome Trainee

The woman who views hiring a trainer as license to broadcast her life to everyone within earshot -- using her trainer as a therapist, pouring upon him nonstop verbal musings ranging from the state of her cellulite to her recent clash with the mother-in-law.

The Less-Than-Dynamic Duo

Workout buddies who do a great job of motivating each other to do less. They take 20 minutes to get changed while chatting, buy matching flavored waters and wander the floor until they find side-by-side machines, where they lounge and talk at length about they can't shed those 15 pounds.

Blowing Off Tension?

Posted by in Untagged

Does this look like anyone you know?

How's your blood pressure? Kids getting to you? Boss stressing you out? Spouse picking tiny fights for no apparent reason?

Well, there's an interesting study from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago that says you can keep your blood pressure in check with this simple move: Take fewer than 10 deep breaths per minute for seven minutes a day.

This type of paced breathing can slow heart rate and simply relax you, which are two key factors for taming stress and staying within a safe pressure range!

Of course the best way to maintain optimum blood pressure is through weight control. Even losing a few pounds can go a long way toward friendly BP numbers.
