One way to expedite fat loss and tone up is to incorporate exercise into your lifestyle. In the past, I’ve purchased various videos and DVDS as well as exercise equipment and TV gadgets. Most of the time the item would be used a few times, if at all, then find its way to a corner or closet — never to be used again.

Joining the health club has made a world of difference in my fitness journey with motivation, accountability and a whole new group of like-minded friends I look forward to seeing everyday. If you are considering joining a gym or fitness center, here are some things to consider when making your decision:
.
* What are the hours? Is the club open all hours of the day and night so you have unlimited access? What is the security like?
.
* Is the facility clean and tidy? Does it smell fresh or does it smell like a school locker room?
.
* Are there shower facilities available so you can freshen up after working out?
.
* Do the members seem to be having a good time?
.
* Ask the staff what the peak times of use are so you can either join in the buzz or avoid it, depending on your preference.
.
* Are you looking for an environment which seems welcoming, where everyone knows everyone’s name? Or would you rather belong to a gym where “I pick tings up – n – put dem down.” (Yup, I’m spoofing the TV gym commercial.)
.
* Ask if the club allows trial periods so you can check out the club culture and equipment. Does it suit your style? What is the monthly investment for membership? Do they ever run sales specials?
.
* Does the club manager/training staff seem like they “care” about the members? Talk to other members to get their opinion and input as to what they like or dislike about the club leadership.
.
* Are the personal trainers certified by reputable training schools? If you are able to get in on a trial pass, observe the trainers at work if you can. Does their training style appeal to you?
.
* Are there enough machines, cardio and free weights so there is little, if any, waiting time when working out?
.
* If you like to tan, do they have tanning available?
.
* Does the club have on-line resources with support groups, nutrition and exercise guidance?
.
* What kind of activities do you enjoy doing? Does the facility provide for these activities?
.
* Does the facility provide classes? Zumba, spin, dance, kickboxing? If you like to swim, does it have a pool?
.
* What kind of new member orientations or consultations are provided with a membership?
As part of the staff of a health club, these are just a few of the questions I’ve heard over time and some of the features our current members look for.
.
If you desire a lifestyle change which incorporates exercise, camaraderie, accountability and motivation, you may want to give some consideration to joining a fitness center and becoming part of that community.
